Losing weight can feel overwhelming – by setting short-term attainable goals, the end result won’t seem so out of reach. After you achieve the first 10% goal, reward yourself, and then set your new goal.

A recent systematic review found that nutritional and herbal supplements may be an effective way to treat anxiety and anxiety related problems without serious side effects. According to researchers at The Citadel, wearing a small plastic mouthpiece during exercise could boost athletic performance. The military college has been studying the mouthpiece's affect on different aspects of performance since 2004.
They want to know not only if it works, but how it works. In an article from The Post and Courier (Charleston, SC), one of the aspects researchers are studying is the mouthpiece's affect on levels of the hormone cortisol - which is associated with stress. Cortisol increases when people exercise.
When a person wears the mouthpiece, cortisol levels seem to drop back to a normal level more quickly. The studies currently under way are looking at how the mouthpiece affects performance, resistance-training, flexibility and pistol shooting accuracy.

Have you ever been tempted to try the exercise equipment advertised on late-night infomercials—the products that promise to enhance various body parts or provide a great workout for a low, low price? Most of it isn’t necessary to get into the shape you want. Some of the most effective workouts can be done at home—with only your own body weight. It’s not that equipment is bad—correct use of weights and some machines can be very effective—but it isn’t necessary, nor is it an excuse to prevent you from getting in a good workout when equipment isn’t available.
There are some clear benefits to exercising at home without the use of equipment, including saving time and money that you would spend at a gym. Always proceed with caution—these videos are impressive and can be useful, but realize that they come with a risk of serious injury. Before you begin any home workout, consult your physician and/or an exercise professional to determine what is safe, and best for you.
