What happens if pain becomes chronic?

HPRC's Answer

Pain, if chronic or left untreated, has a tendency to make itself worse over time. Pain often increases worry and negative thoughts about having more pain in the future. Then you tend to avoid doing certain activities. As a result, you don’t use certain muscles. Inactivity along with avoiding activities previously enjoyed can bring about depressed feelings. Depression and disuse make pain worse and continue to feed the pain cycle.
