Staying hydrated is essential to optimize physical and cognitive performance and protect against heat injury. Whether you’re lifting weights, flying a high-performance aircraft, or playing intramural sports with friends, you need to stay hydrated for high performance. Fluid requirements vary from person to person, from season to season, and among different activities. Therefore, you should know how to assess your hydration status and recognize signs whenever possible so you can course-correct and reduce your risk of injury and performance errors.
